Celestron C6-NGT Advanced Series Telescope - 6" Newtonian Telescope on CG-5GT Computerized Mount
The new Advanced Series family of computerized GoTo and non-computerized telescopes was designed to offer the novice or more advanced user a selection of models with the features and quality that serious amateurs can appreciate. Celestron offers a dozen different optical tube assemblies on the new heavy-duty German Equatorial CG-5 mount. Choose a refractor, reflector, or Schmidt-Cassegrain...it's up to you! Regardless of your choice, the completely overhauled CG-5 mount will carry the load with ease!
Celestron's new German Equatorial mount has precision worm gears on both axes for extremely smooth movement and great stability. The key element that makes this system the most stable in its class is the NEW heavy-duty tripod with larger and more substantial legs (2" stainless steel!), and the beefy center tray, both of which offer excellent damping characteristics for more stable views. The CG-5 also has a convenient latitude scale for easier alignment and an optional polar finder scope for the ultimate in precision alignments.
Celestron is proud to offer the GT version of the Advanced Series on a computerized GoTo version of their sturdy CG-5 mount. Engineers at Celestron have coupled this solid mount with a computerized control system to utilize many of the same functions and features as their most advanced GoTo telescopes, including, among other things, an Autoguider port for long exposure deep sky astrophotography. GoTo models are also upgradeable to GPS with the optional CN16 GPS Accessory (#93963), allowing your telescope to pinpoint your position on the earth and to upload the date and time, making the alignment process faster and easier than ever before!
GoTo versions of the Advanced Series also come loaded with new software features and over 40,000 database objects. Since the mount is capable of holding over 35 lbs of payload and slewing at 4ยบ per second, you will be able to quickly point to any of the celestial objects in the database.
The optics of the Celestron C6-N telescope are manufactured to Celestron's uncompromising standards. It incorporates diffraction-limited parabolic primary mirrors for razor-sharp images across a wide field of view. These telescopes are mounted on the very rigid CG-5 German equatorial mount. It is the most rigid and stable mount in it's price range, and features precision gears for extremely smooth motion. The mount is supported by a heavy-duty tripod with 2" steel legs for extra stability and vibration-free viewing. Counterweight, latitude scale, setting circles, and slow motion controls on both axes are standard, so you have a fully-loaded telescope right from the start.
For a completely automated GoTo system, the Celestron C6-NGT comes mounted on the Celestron CG-5GT mount and allows access to features like automatic star alignment capability and GoTo slewing to over 40,000 objects. Equipped with high speed motors and a hand control, the C-6NGT allows you to remotely slew your telescope to desired objects quickly and accurately. No matter what level you are starting out at, the Advanced GT series is designed to provide you with years of observing pleasure.
