OPT 15mm Superview Eyepiece
The Erfle eyepiece design consist of five or six elements and was created solely for an ultra wide field of view – such as 60 to 70 degrees. At low powers it provides impressive deep sky views – huge swatches of sky with contrasty backgrounds and pinpoint stars. Galaxies and nebulae are framed by the fields in which they lay. However, we'll be honest... at high magnification the image sharpness can become distorted at the edges of some manufacturer designs in some telescopes without corrective measures.
Fully multi-coated five element optics with blackened edges to minimize light reflection while maximizing contrast and light transmission. All SuperView eyepieces have a full 20mm of eye relief, making them a good choice for everyone, even those who wear eyeglasses. With impressive quality and appearance, the SuperView wide-field eyepieces feature a flawless chrome and black anodized barrel with a rubber eyecup and grip. The barrels are threaded to accept 1.25" filters. The OPT 15mm Superview Eyepiece is a great mid-range magnification for all focal lengths and will help resolve globular clusters, galaxy details and spot planetary nebulae.
"I had the chance to use them last night and I must say I was sceptical due to their cost but I am certainly pleased with their performance thus far. I am amazed at how inexpensive these eyepieces are, you guys REALLY hit a homerun with this one!!" --M. Taylor, Palmdale, CA

I have bought and tested eleven 15mm 70 degree AFOV eyepieces and have found none which match the comfortable combination of eye relief, on-axis sharpness, contrast, and finish on the 15mm SuperView WideView eyepiece. As a bonus, used on a F7 refractor (achromat, I have observed no color aberrations, and would have to conclude that the eyepiece's color correction is second to none in the group mentioned. The multi coatings are excellent and I find that I reach for this eyepiece more than my 15mm Panoptic at three times the price used. Off axis, the eyepiece is sharp (at F7 to 90 percent of the full field of view. The remainder is just slightly astigmatic. When used at F10, the entire field is sharp. I note no pincushion effect, which is an annoyance with the Panoptic. I use it for daytime and astro observing and find that kidney beaning is virtually non-existent. I have also had a tw... |
