Stellarvue MG Geared Alt-Azimuth Mount Head
-
The Stellarvue MG Alt-Azimuth Mount is a portable, easy-to-use alternative to more complicated, heavy equatorial mount, especially when you want quick set-up for visual use...traveling or at home.
- The Stellarvue MG mount has a weight capacity of 15 pounds, and works well for 80mm - 115mm telescopes, especially those made by Stellarvue!
- This geared head is driven by an oversized worm gear. Lock and adjustment knobs are oversized for easy manipulation, even with gloves on.
- The MG mount head attaches directly to a big (Bogen) Manfrotto style camera tripod, or choose the lighter TA3 aluminum tripod or heavy-duty TSL6 Pier Tripod for the ultimate in stability.
- The Stellarvue MG Mount will begin shipping in late 2009.

The Stellarvue MG Alt-Azimuth Mount is a great choice if you are a visual user who needs a manual mount for your 80 - 115mm telescope. The gear axis of the MG mount head is driven by an oversized worm gear. Simply move the mount manually from object to object, tighten the lock knobs and the gears are engaged. Paddle-style lock knobs and large knurled adjustment knobs make navigation easy. This mount is much more stable than the M1. It mounts directly to heavy duty (Bogen) Manfrotto-style tripods using the standard 3/8-16 screw. Use the MG mount with the optional stainless grab and go tripod (shown in photo), the Stellarvue TA3 aluminum tripod or the TSL6 Pier Tripod. Telescopes attach easily with the TD2 spring loaded Vixen style dovetail shoe which is included. The mount has an integral column which extends the mount above the tripod for clearance.
