Vixen VMC95L Modified Cassegrain Telescope with Mini Porta Mount
Are you looking for something different? Then you've got to take a look at the new Vixen VMC95L - a 95 mm (3.7 inch) aperture modified Cassegrain f/11 optical tube assembly.
The Vixen VMC95L features a curved vane Secondary Mirror Spider to reduce diffraction effects. Like its larger cousins the VMC110L, VMC200L and VMC260L, this scope features a meniscus lens just ahead of the Secondary Mirror.
The Vixen VMC95L Modified Cassegrain telescope is intriguing in its own right, with interesting features, including its shape and sharp optics - its built-in focuser slides the primary mirror! With an objective diameter of 95mm (3.7") and focal length of 1045mm, this f/11 performer is sure to meet your needs. Look for additional features like a built-in 1.25" diagonal and straight-through camera port, too!
What makes the Vixen VMC95L package even more special is the Vixen Mini Porta Mount. Far more stable than an entry level altzamuth mount, the Vixen Mini Portamount comes equipped with two fine adjustment handles for whole circle slow motion in both directions, very useful in searching and tracking celestial objects. In addition, the Vixen Mini Porta Mount is a great for terrestrial viewing. Vixen gear drives make it a simple matter to precisely track a planet or follow a sailboat by simply turning the elevation and/or azimuth control handles. The Vixen Mini Porta Mount is strong, too. It will carry a maximum weight of 8 pounds, yet weighs a mere 6 lbs!
A Few Words on the Vixen Porta Mount...
"When I first started in amateur astronomy, I did as most beginners and purchased a department store telescope that advertised the most power. (700x I believe) Unfortunately, again like most beginners, I found that the advertised power was impossible due to the size of the telescope and more importantly the lack of stability of the mount.
Time and again I speak to parents and children who tell me how frustrated they are that after finding Saturn in a beginner telescope they can’t get a good view of the rings because the mount is too shaky or the telescope controls too difficult to adjust. I hear many tell me that they tried once many years ago and now the scope is sitting in a closet collecting dust!
Well it is Vixen Optics to the rescue! The NEW Mini Porta Mount is an easy to use, light weight, stable mount. It has the vixen dove tail connection to easily attach your telescope and smooth friction bearing up-down / right-left hand controls.
If you are looking for the most affordable starting package, the Vixen VMC95L with Mini Porta Mount is the one. This package combines sharp optics and a rock solid, light weight mount. It takes just seconds to place the telescope on the mount and you are ready for an evening of observing." -- Mr. StarGuy
