CCD Cameras |
Are you interested in astronomy imaging? Charge-coupled Device (CCD)
imagers are one of the fastest growing fields of astrophotography.
Unlike traditional film cameras which only captures about 2% of
gathered light, CCD cameras can respond up to 70%. - making them
amazingly efficient for astronomy applications. Here at Oceanside
Photo and Telescope, we specialize in your astrophotography needs and join the CCD revolution! You'll find a nice selection of cameras in
this category, organized by manufacturer. The prices of CCD cameras
these days run the gamut from very inexpensive (under $500) to over
$10,000 for results that rival images taken by observatories and
professionals Let's take a brief look at what each company has to
offer...
Apogee CCD Cameras: Since 1993, Apogee Instruments
has been supplying cooled CCD cameras to astronomers around the world.
Apogee cameras are now used in more than 50 countries, from
world-class professional observatories to backyard domes where
"amateurs" add discovery after discovery every day. Over the years,
Apogee has kept track of every suggested improvement that they could
add to Apogee CCD Cameras to bring their technology to the
next level. With the Alta Series, Apogee aimed at the highest
performance; with Ascent, they aimed for higher speeds and more
accessible pricing.
Astrovid CCD Cameras: If you have been waiting for
the BEST and most powerful video system ever created for astronomy,
your wait is over! Never before has a cooled video camera of this
quality, with unlimited exposure time, been offered to the
astronomical community. Faint objects unattainable in any other video
system are now within your grasp. You will reach greater magnitudes
and see more deep sky objects in greater detail with your current
scope than you could have ever thought possible. You will be
experiencing the universe in a whole new way. You will hunt down faint
comets, galaxies, supernovae and asteroids never before possible, and
all without a computer. You and your friends can enjoy fantastic view
of the night sky on televisions and monitors. Astrovid CCD Cameras also produces some of the
highest quality images attainable. In fact, the cooled StellaCam3 is
quite comparable to a conventional cooled CCD, with one important
exception; you can now View Live Images directly on LCD monitors and
large screen televisions. Stars are nice and round. There are no
annoying artifacts present. The dynamic range and signal to noise
ratio surpasses all other cameras available. This means you will see
more detail in your targets with the Astrovid StellaCam3 than any
other video camera on the market.
FLI CCD Cameras: Finger Lakes Instrumentation,
better known to the astronomical community as FLI, makes a wide
selection of FLI CCD Cameras , from the more economical
Microline series to the professional class Proline with a Fairchild
Imaging sensor.
Imaging Source CCD Cameras: At 60 frames
per second (fps), the color CCD camera DFK 21AF04.AS, manufactured by
The Imaging Source, is ideally suited for color astrophotography,
where very fast image sequences are captured. Using the included
software - IC Capture.AS - you can capture lossless and uncompressed
image sequences as AVI files. Imaging Source CCD Cameras use the color
progressive scan CCD ICX098BQ from Sony(R). With its 1/4" format, the
CCD produces a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Even at long exposure
times, its noise is minimal. Although the Imaging Source CCD camera
DBK 21AF04.AS has a color CCD, it does not have an IR cut filter. It
is therefore possible for users of this CCD camera to set it up for
their own personal requirements. Also offered is Imaging Source USB CCD Cameras. They are ideally suited for color astrophotography, where very fast image sequences are captured. Using the included software - IC Capture.AS - you can capture lossless and uncompressed image sequences as AVI files. Imaging Source USB CCD Cameras include the driver IC WDM DCAM TIS which embeds all USB 2.0 CCD cameras, manufactured by The Imaging Source, into Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP. By deploying this driver, all CCD cameras are compatible to DirectX®. Consequently, all The Imaging Source CCD cameras can be used with all astrophotography software that is compatible to DirectX®.
Lumenera CCD Cameras: Lumenera's Infinity2-1 1.4
megapixel CCD digital camera is a versatile solution for clinical,
life science, materials science, and educational professionals working
under low light conditions. The Lumenera LU-075 high-speed USB 2.0
camera provides 60 fps at 640x480 pixels. Based on a high-quality 1/3"
CCD sensor with fast global shutter - ideal for capturing objects in
motion. Lumenera SKYnyx 2-2 Monochrome and Color CCD Cameras which
providine exceptional sensitivity with low noise characteristics
making Lumenera CCD Cameras choice among photographers.
Meade DSI CCD Cameras: Create stunning color images
of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and planets on your first night
out with the new, easy-to-use Deep Sky Imager from Meade Instruments.
The Meade DSI includes a electronic camera with a 510 X 492 Sony Super
HAD color CCD sensor. Exposure times can range from as fast as
1/10,000th of a second to as long as an hour. The flexibility of Meade DSI CCD Cameras allow the user to choose from
a wide variety of astronomical subjects; from our closest neighbor,
the Moon, to faint deep sky objects at an affordable level. Your
photos will have greater depth and contrast thanks to full, 16-bit
analog to digital conversion, and, they won't take forever to download
to your PC. A USB 2.0 (DSI also compatible with USB 1.1) connection
allows virtually zero lag time between taking the shot and seeing it
on your screen, making it easier to compose and focus each image.
Orion CCD Cameras: Call it StarShoot: The Next
Generation. Or just call it the best new affordable single-shot color
CCD imaging camera on the market today. With a bigger CCD chip,
improved engineering, and more efficient active cooling, the Orion
StarShoot Deep Space Color Imager II gives beginning and experienced
astrophotographers alike a more powerful tool for capturing dramatic
celestial images. Orion CCD Cameras enable anyone with a telescope
and a computer to shoot dazzling color pictures of star clusters,
nebulas, galaxies, and planets.
QSI CCD Cameras: QSI offers a variety of small,
thin, high-quality CCD cameras to the amateur astronomy market. The
QSI 500 Series cameras come in three body sizes...small, medium, and
full, but even the "full" bodied 500 Series camera is svelte at only
4.5" x 4.5" x 2.5". QSI CCD Cameras medium-bodied cameras house a
mechanical shutter, and "full" cameras contain a mechanical shutter
and internal, five-position color filter wheel. QSI offers a choice of
Kodak KAF full-frame sensors, including the KAF-0402, the 1.6
megapixel KAF-1603, or the 3.2 megapixel KAF-3200. QSI 500 Series CCD
cameras are forced air cooled, with an optional liquid cooling
attachment, and include Maxim LE software. We also carry the new QSI 583 CCD cameras with their 8.3 megapixel Kodak KAF-8300 color full frame sensors - with options such as single shot, mechanical shutter, integrated guider port and internal color filter wheel.
SBIG CCD Cameras - there is no name more highly
respected than Santa Barbara Instruments Group when it comes to
imaging. The SBIG ST-Series CCD Cameras are a complete camera system.
There is no need to add in the additional cost of an interface or an
autoguider or a nosepiece to make these cameras actually operate as
they should. Everything that is needed to make the camera operational
is included in the base price. SBIG STL CCD Research Line of cameras
is an all new camera design that has been over two years in the
making. SBIG's design team has combined the best features and ideas
from past designs and updated their current high speed electronics and
USB interface to handle these large format CCDs. All of these
qualities combined make SBIG CCD Cameras the choice of professional imagers
everywhere.
