Televue Eyepieces |
Do you demand only the best view? Then think TeleVue... OPT is proud to carry an extensive line of TeleVue telescope eyepieces These
incredible optical creations are
truly a "tele view" eyepiece, so let's take a brief look at what each
one offers...
Televue
Nagler Eyepieces incorporate a six-element design in their 2"
sizes which opens wide to accept the largest true field at 82º. The
1.25" models use a compact seven-element design and both sizes use
unique and rare optical glass and coating processes to deliver
pinpoint sharpness and clarity over the entire eyepiece surface.
Offering excellent eye relief at all focal lengths, the Nagler
Type 6 TeleVue eyepieces set the industry standard in performance.
Televue
Panoptic Series Eyepieces jettisoned the wide-field concept to
Nagler-like performance levels, creating an intense advance over any
eyepiece in its 68º field class. Multi-coatings, blackened lens
edges, filter threads, rubber grip rings and exemplary construction
are standard on all Panoptics - just as their double identifying ring
distinguishes all Tele
Vue Panoptics Eyepieces from similar models.
The extremely affordable Televue
Plossl Series Eyepieces feature noticeably less astigmatism and
lateral color at field's edge to deliver sharper images than any other
4 or 5 element Plossl on today's market. Featuring a 50º apparent
field of view, TeleVue
Plossl eyepieces are parfocal and offer the highest performance in
a wide range of applications at moderate cost. Far superior to
eyepieces usually provided as standard with most instruments.
Televue
Radian Eyepieces use only the best glass types, the radian
eyepieces achieve optimum full field sharpness and freedom from
distortion across their handsome 60º apparent field of view. Made
with the eyeglass wearer in mind, the Tele
Vue Radian Eyepiece was first to incorporate a design call
"instadjust" for proper eye position for non-eyeglass wearers. It is
essential, since with Radian's long eye-relief, non-eyeglass wearers
would easily tend to get too close to the eyepiece, resulting in
vignetting the field, just as you would moving out from the exit
pupil. The click-stop, Instadjust eye guard permits fast, accurate
positioning of the eye to the exit-pupil with maximum suppression of
environmental stray light. Instadjust is topped off by a soft (for
comfort and eyeglass protection) fold-down rubber eye guard and
protective cap. Of course, the Televue
Radian carries a full multi-coating, blackened lens edges,
parfocalization, and grip-ring complement the Radian line. With a
reasonable size, weight and cost, the Radians will set a new
benchmark in viewing pleasure for any person.
And now comes Al Nagler's latest innovation - the Televue
13mm Ethos Eyepiece. Available in one size and focal length only,
The Ethos
begins by evoking the original "Nagler" revolution, the field area of
this new eyepiece is, at 100º, more than 50% larger than an 82º field.
The Tele Vue 13mm Ethos eyepiece is essentially
multiple eyepieces,
delivering the true field size of a longer focal length, narrower
apparent field eyepiece with the benefits of higher power and darker
sky background. Control of astigmatism, field curvature, lateral
color, angular magnification distortion correction (technical
reference), and low pupil sensitivity for daytime use were specified
criteria. While sharpness is inherent to the optical design, contrast
is maximized through the intelligent use of flat finished baffles and
ultra low reflectance, high efficiency coatings tuned to the
composition of each element. The Televue
13mm Ethos eyepiece has now been shown at NEAF, TSP, RTMC, as well
as other major astronomy events. The Televue
Ethos has been extremely well received by the astronomy community
and will be one of the most highly anticipated products to be released
in years. Be the first astronomer on your block to own what will
become the next "Nagler" legend!
The names TeleVue and Al Nagler are synonymous among the international
astronomy community with revolutionary telescope and eyepiece designs
in production since 1977. Beginning his career with amateur astronomy
and telescope making, Mr. Nagler enjoyed an illustrious career in
optics and eventually became involved in the design of the NASA Apollo
program astronaut lunar landing visual simulator by designing a probe
which simulated a field of up to 140 degrees! Establishing TeleVue
Optics Incorporated in 1977, Al's mind eventually turned to a field
which hadn't progressed in nearly a century - telescope eyepiece
designs - and thus was born a legend. Says Mr. Nagler in his Company
7 interview: "I have worked
on eyepieces, telescopes and viewing devices with two major goals: to
make astronomy as easy and versatile as possible to encourage, rather
than discourage, newcomers, and secondly, to provide a visual
experience as close to a "space walk" as possible by obtaining the
widest, sharpest, highest contrast views. I am deeply gratified that
my work has enhanced the pleasure and growth of the hobby."
