 Oceanside Photo & Telescope is excited to offer the amazingly innovative Chronos mount! The Chronos uses harmonic drives instead of a worm-and-wheel or spur gear system. The Chronos harmonic drive has 320 teeth, and a third of them are engaged at any given time, unlike traditional gears where the maximum engagement is three! This means the Chronos has extremely smooth operation over the full 360º of rotation, and lacks the possibility of slipping clutches and PEC inconsistencies. Because the Chronos is clutchless, there is no backlash...none, zip, nada, zero.The Chronos mount does not use counterweights, which means you can change your equipment while the mount is autoguiding, and it has the ability to move across the sky from horizon to horizon without doing a "meridian flip"! Whether you live in Chile or Colorado, Aberdeen, Scotland or Sidney, Australia, you can use the Chronos mount without the need for additional hardware! The Chronos is capable of a full 90º of latitude adjustment. There are four models of the Chronos mount, from the HD20, which has a weight capacity of 125 lbs, to the HD65, which will hold an amazing 1,000 pounds.
