William Optics Star 71 Generation II 4 Element F/4.9 OTA
William Optics was happy to declare the Star 71 their finest scope yet- but that's changed with that scopes successor. Now they've outdone themselves once more, surpassing even the sky high bar set by the first Star 71! The Generation II Star 71 is it's predecessors equal in performance and mechanics, but has a key difference that marks it as an upgrade. The Star 71 made use of a five element design in which only one of those five elements utilized FPL-53 ED glass. The Generation II model makes use of a four element design, but two of it's elements make use of FPL-53 ED glass, allowing it to achieve the same stellar quality optical performance while at the same time making it far easier to collimate during assembly. It also features a Vixen style dovetail base for attaching finder or guider brackets.
This stellar quality Apochromatic Astrograph is a splendid choice for any astro-imaging enthusiast, especially the astronomer on the go who will benefit from it's highly portable size! The two elements of FPL-53 ED Glass ensure color free apochromatic performance of the highest quality. It covers 45mm full frame imaging circle, which is quite nice as well. Another factor that makes this a top quality scope is it's included 2.5" Dual Speed Rack and Pinion Focuser, an easy to use and high quality piece of equipment that greatly benefits this scope's performance. Its blazingly fast focal ratio of f/4.9 makes it perfect for imaging, and it comes with a camera adapter to make that more convenient!
The focuser drawtube terminates in a male M48x0.75 thread. This telescope comes with a wide M48 female threded Canon EOS adapter ring. Similar rings are available from other suppliers for other brands of cameras. Note that this a not a conventional 2" focuser tube with locking thumbscrews.
