Explore Scientific 208mm f/3.9 Newtonian Telescope - Carbon Fiber
The Explore Scientific carbon fiber Newtonian is a beautiful piece of work; smooth black lines and a shine to the material that produces a beautiful gleam. Crafted to allow a larger primary mirror with a faster aperture ratio compared to the usual 8'' f/4, the Explore 208mm Newtonian telescope allows deeper shots with the same exposure time. The 'click fix' secondary mirror mechanism is included to permit easy and optimal collimation. The secondary mirror comes out to 80mm, allowing optimal field illumination. All in all, it is a scope of stellar quality, perfect for attaching to any telescope in need of one. It also includes a high quality 2'' focuser with 10:1 reduction; cradle rings with vixen style dovetail rail and carrying handle, all with an option for mounting a camera or other accessory. Yet another advantage of the Newtonian Fiber Scope is that it weighs a fourth of the usual aluminum Bresser versions of similar design, and focus drift is virtually nonexistent during long exposures!

Product QuestionsQuestion by: Abraham on Dec 21, 2015 4:58:00 PMThe manufacturer does not state if there are internal baffles in this telescope, but from pictures of this scope it does not appear that there are any internal baffles. The interior of the tube is likely blackened and thus may not need any baffling to acheive excellent contrast.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Dec 21, 2015 6:11:00 PMHello:
Can the 280mm carbon fiber scope be use for visual too. I'm not into photography but would like to put this on the alt -AZ mount.
Thanx for reply,
MarkI am considering this newt. Could the carry handle be removed and replaced with a dovetail so I can mount my 80mm refractor on this newt?ES website offers a coma corrector and all accessories you offer at OPT. Is this correct? No coma corrector offered at this price point?
AbrahamShould i get a dew shield/heater for this. It seems like dew is a more problematic for scope with exposed obj lenses.Question by: Chuby Okafor on Sep 24, 2015 11:23:00 AMChuby,
You really don't need a dew/shield for the Newtonian. Like you said, when the objective or corrector plate is close to the opening,
then you need it. The dewshield also acts as a light shield, which the Newtonian already has. I could see some rare instances
when you have heavy dewing that might affect the mirror but generally no.
