Sky-Watcher Quattro 8" Imaging Newtonian OTA
The Sky-Watcher Quattro 8" (205 mm) Imaging Newtonian OTA is a great optical tube assembly for either visual astronomy or astro-imaging work. This fast 8" f/4 Newtonian telescope has a superb mirror set, allowing you to see sharp, high contrast images of celestial objects. Additionally, the tube length has been slightly shortened to optimize performance for doing prime-focus photography. A 2" dual speed 10:1 ratio focuser is included for precision focusing adjustments, and an 8x50 finderscope will provide bright views when you're hunting down your favorite deep-sky object.
Sky-Watcher has designed a custom coma corrector for those astro-imagers with larger imaging sensors. The optional Quattro Coma Corrector will improve both visual and photographic performance by correcting for coma around the edges of the field of view, a normal aberration found in optical systems using parabolic mirrors, such as a Newtonian telescope.
Because this Sky-Watcher Quattro 8" (205 mm) Imaging Newtonian OTA incorporates significant improvements over competing fast Newtonians, you will be assured of rewarding views of many celestial objects and also achieve good image results when doing astroimaging.

Product QuestionsDoes this 8-inch imaging newt have enough backfocus to incorporate the S-W recommended coma corrector and a typical flip-mirror in front of a Canon DSLR?Question by: Lewis Greiner on Jan 27, 2016 4:08:00 PMUnfortunately, you wouldn't be able to do this. You would need to put the comma corrector in front of the filp mirror to work. Does it have enough back focus to use a S-Big St-4000 camera and an AO-8 adaptive optics unit?Question by: Paul on Feb 13, 2016 11:50:00 AMWhen it comes to imaging with a Newtonian like this, the back focus to be concerned with should be that of the coma corrector rather than the back focus of the scope itself. There are some Coma correctors that will have up to 91mm of back focus while others will only give you 55 or 75mm of back focus. Depending on what filter wheel and adapter system, this may be enough to use your camera with an AO-8.

1) ASA 2-inch Newton Coma Corrector and 0.73x Reducer for Astrophotography, 2) Baader 2" Newtonian Coma Corrector MPCC Mark III - from f/3,5 to f/6, 3) Baader RCC Newton Coma Corrector - triplet lens - long distance. Then, I would like to know the distance from the focuser end to the focal plane. Thanks!Question by: Atsushi Yokota on Dec 1, 2015 12:33:00 AMThe MPCC and RCC correctors will work with this scope as they are 1x and do not move the focal point inward. The 0.73x reducer may work, but you may need a lower profile focuser as it moves the focal plane inward by ~15-16mm plus a back focus needed of ~65mm (eating up ~80mm of back focus). The MPCC has a back focus of 55mm and the RCC has a back focus of 91.5, so the RCC will need to be dropped farther into the focuser to correct the image.
