Celestron SkyProdigy Mount Only
The SkyProdigy mount's automatic alignment procedure requires only a few minutes before you're ready to choose from thousands of potential viewing objects. If you're not sure what to look at first, let the Sky Tour option be your guide. Sky Tour provides a custom-made list of the most prominent objects in the sky to view depending on your exact time and location anywhere in the world!
The SkyProdigy Mak-Cass Telescope incorporates an imaging camera and patented StarSense technology for automatic alignment with the night sky as well as resolving where the telescope is pointing at that exact moment. The camera will instinctively capture an image of the sky. This image will then be internally processed to confirm the identify of the stars in the image. Once a positive match is located, SkyProdigy will resolve the coordinates of the center of the captured image. This process is automatically repeated twice to give the system three known alignment points that can be employed to create an authentic model of the heavens. Using this information, the user can choose from any celestial object in the hand controller database and SkyProdigy will instantly move itself into the proper position.

Product QuestionsWhat are the version numbers for the various firmwares on this mount? Will I need to update any firmware after purchase?Question by: Adam on Dec 10, 2015 6:00:00 AMThe version info on the model we set up on the showroom floor is 01.03.1140. This version is current for all features on the SkyProdigy mount. Newer versions of the firmware are mainly for the StarSense and are designed to use that different hardware and allow equatorial mounts to auto align. No updates are needed out of the box for this scope.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Dec 11, 2015 3:21:00 PMDoes this SkyProdigy mount support the standard NexStar command set for serial port communication?Question by: Greg on Mar 13, 2016 5:05:00 PMNot exactly. While the camera is engaged, the telescope cannot talk to a computer over an RS-232 port. To do so, you have to set the telescope alignment to "Manual Alignment," which deactivates the camera and then behaves like a standard Nexstar Alt-Az mount with no auto-alignment. Only the newer SkyProdigy mounts (Firmware version 06.x and higher) can be upgraded over the RS-232 connection.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Mar 18, 2016 3:53:00 PMWould this be compatible for another OTA, ex., an ETX-125 and what mounting attachments would be required?Question by: Mark on Apr 29, 2015 9:18:00 AMYou can use other light OTA's as long as you can mount a Vixen style dovetail on the side. Note that the radius on the clamp housing on this mount is smaller (made originally for a 90mm scope) so you may need a spacer between the dovetail and the scope to back a larger scope off a bit.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Apr 29, 2015 2:44:00 PM
