Product QuestionsI have a LX200GPS and I'm pretty sure the handbox I have with it is the 497, the one question that was already answered said it will not work with scopes that take the 497 autostar, but in another answer it says it works with all LX200's that are 2001 or newer, so will it work?Question by: Tom on Apr 8, 2016 4:51:00 PMThe AustoStar-II is definitely the correct hand-controller for your LX200-GPS. The pre-GPS LX200s (often referred to as the LX200 classics) used an entirely different hand-controller, which looked nothing like the Autostar HC (ETXs, LX90s, and LXD55/LXD75 mounts) and the AutoStar-II HC (modern LX200s, LX600, and LX850s).Answer by: Eric Blackhurst (Admin) on Apr 11, 2016 4:48:00 PMI have an LX200GPS 8" from around 2003. The AUTOSTAR II controller has become finicky and unreliable. I'd like to get this one to replace it. It is currently running ver. 1.6 (or 1.6b).
I was told that the memory is on the motherboard of the 'scope and that this controller might not work because the memory is in the controller. So I'm confused.
Can you help me resolve this? Will the Autostar II work on the older ETX-70AT or is there a replacement for the original Autostar handboxWill this work with a RCX400? I ask since I understand the original one is a "display only" type while this product seems to be "inteligent". Could you please clarify?
Many thanks!Question by: Arie on May 7, 2016 11:33:00 PMThe Meade Autostar II is used on the LX200/RCX400/LX600/LX850/and MAX mounts. The original Autostar (497) is for the ETX/LX80/LX90?EQ mounts that Meade makes and is not compatible with the RCX400. The old boxy hand controller for the pre-GPS LX200 is not compatible with any newer mounts.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on May 10, 2016 5:50:00 PMQuestion by: joestar on Mar 25, 2014 2:32:39 AMNo, the Autostar II only works with the LX200/400/600/850 scopes. The LX90 used the old 497 Autostar - now discontinued - and can now use the Audiostar hand controller http://www.optcorp.com/meade-audiostar-controller-07640.html that replaced the 497.Answer by: Chris (Admin) on Mar 25, 2014 7:01:25 AMQuestion by: mark on Sep 20, 2015 3:42:00 PMUnfortunately, no. The Autostar II will not work with telescopes that take the 497 Autosta. What you need is an Audiostar to replace the 497. This is part ME-07640. http://www.optcorp.com/meade-audiostar-controller-07640.html.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Sep 21, 2015 4:02:00 PMDoes this come with the cable? I'm replacing a controller that failed and need the cable as well for an LX200-12 ACF.Question by: Robert on May 11, 2014 11:16:50 PM
