Lasers, Flashlights & Night Vision Preservation
Night vision friendly flashlights are a must-have at any dark site. Certain colors of light are easier on the eyes, allowing you to maintain more of your vision as it has adjusted to the darkness. And if you've ever shown up to a star party with a white flashlight - well, you know just how upset your fellow stargazers can get! Red is the most popular color but if you're doing any reading or have a full color atlas you like to use, consider a green light. This will save your night vision and give you better contrast. Laser pointers, when used appropriately, are a great educational tool. Green lasers, in particular, are bright enough to show a steady beam and help point out single objects in a field of stars. You'll also find standard white flashlights here for camping.
