Product QuestionsIs the adapter's V side compatible with TPO RC 8" Carbon Fiber vixen dovetail? I would like to use two adapters to attach the Orion Awesome Autoguider Refractor Package rings to the RC 8" vixen dovetail.Question by: wlopes on Dec 22, 2014 6:04:24 AMYes, the inner V clamp will attach to the TPO 8" RC Vixen rail. Two of these clamps will allow attachment of the guidescope using the included rings, though you may need to verify if the rings use 1/4"-20 or 6mm screws as only the 1/4"-20 screws come included with the clamps.Answer by: Chris (Admin) on Dec 24, 2014 9:03:26 AMDear sir/madam, I would like to ask about the Losmandy dovetail adapter - https://www.optcorp.com/losmandy-dovetail-adapter-d-v-series.html
Are all the holes threaded? What kind of threads are there? I suppose that the center hole is standard 1/4" photo thread? What are the others? The same?
Thank you, sincerely,
Peter MatakQuestion by: Peter Matak on Mar 17, 2017 2:41:00 AMGood day and thanks for asking. We don't have any in stock at the moment so I can't actually look at one but I don't believe any of the holes are threaded. They are 1/4 holes but they are meant to run a 1/4-20 SHCP up through the bottom into something like a telescope ring or a piece of all-thread.Answer by: Charles Walker (Admin) on Mar 30, 2017 10:59:00 AMAre the six holes in the flat portion threaded or clean bore? I am looking to attach a Celestron optical tube to a photographic tripod where the flat portion would be attached to the tripod head.Question by: pguerard on Nov 6, 2014 6:22:39 AMThe six holes on the flat portion are all clean bore with countersinks on the clamp side for 1/4" cap head hex screws to fit in flush below the clamp. If your tripod head has a quick release plate and you can thread a 1/4"-20 screw downward into the plate through the clamp, this might work, but the DVA will not natively connect to a camera tripod thread.Answer by: Chris (Admin) on Nov 6, 2014 8:16:33 AMHi I'm not too mount smart yet. Just to be clear I can use this to mount my D style dovetail to a mount that only accepts V style dovetails. Is that right?
-ThanksQuestion by: Greg on Sep 17, 2015 9:17:00 AMUnfortunately, not with this adapter. This adapter acts as a clamp to allow a piggyback scope ring or camera attachment to grab onto either a Losmandy or Vixen dovetail on top of your telescope. Depending on your mount, you may want a dovetail adapter or you may want a replacement saddle plate that will bolt to your mount and then allow scopes with either dovetail to be mounted. Please contact us with the information on your mount and we will be able to assist you on the best accessory to do this.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Sep 17, 2015 10:48:00 AM
