OPT carries GPS units for many different telescope models.  No matter where you roam, these systems can give you a 100% accurate fix on your location and communicate that to your telescope's positioning system.  Time modules also play a critical role in alignment.  Being off by even one minute means the Earth has already turned, which means that the sky is also off by one minute.  These atomic modules make no mistakes!  GPS, or Global Positioning Units, are outstanding additions to GoTo computerized telescope systems.  Rather than enter in the location (or make the nearest guess), these units can automatically locate you and relay the information to your telescope’s system.  These units are also handy because they enter in the correct time and date.  A time module does just what its name implies; it inputs the correct time into your telescope’s computer system without the need to figure Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

To wirelessly control your telescope from your iPhone or iPad, Orion, Celestron, and other manufacturers have created a Wi-Fi Module for such a task.  Plug the module into your aux port or other designated port per manufacturer's instructions, turn it on, and control your scope from an app you can download in the iTunes Store.
