Product QuestionsWhat is the actual difference between the focal reducer for the Skywatcher 120 ed and the 100 ed?
Johnpolitte@Gmail.comQuestion by: john politte on Dec 19, 2015 1:53:00 PMThe glass is likely the same with both reducers, but the mechanical spacing from the rear lens to the threads is longer with the 120mm reducer to correct for the faster native focal ratio (f/7.5 vs. f/9 for the 100mm) You could interchange reducers on the scopes, but the field will not be quite as flat - especially on larger APS-C size DSLR sensors.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Dec 20, 2015 10:50:00 AMHi,
Does this reducer will fit the Esprit 120 ED Super Apo? If yes, does it work in the DSLR "chain", together with the SW M62x1 field flattner?
Thanks in advance, FernandoQuestion by: Fernando on Jan 21, 2016 10:00:00 AMUnfortunately, this reducer will not work correctly with the Esprit, as it was designed for a 120mm f/7.5 doublet, which has a different optical design and focal ratio from the Esprit. The Esprit was designed to work best only with the included flattener.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Jan 21, 2016 10:18:00 AMQuestion by: Mike Teall on Mar 28, 2017 1:49:00 PMOptically it should work, but you will need to make sure that you can unscrew the last section of the focuser drawtube to expose the ~56mm male thread that this reducer attaches to. If your focuser is different from the one on the Pro 120mm ED scope and the 2" endcap does not unthread form the focuser, you would then need a machined 2" nosepiece adapter to use this.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Mar 29, 2017 5:23:00 PM
