Celestron EdgeHD 800 .7X Focal Reducer
The Celestron EdgeHD 800 .7X Focal Reducer features a custom 5-element optical design engineered to maintain the flat-field performance of the EdgeHD optics. Unlike generic reducers, this premium reducer provides substantial back focus (105mm) to accommodate an assortment of imaging accessories.
The EdgeHD 800 reducer offers extra low dispersion, exotic Lanthanum elements which provide high contrast viewing while minimizing chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass lens surfaces of the .7X Focal Reducer Lens features multiple layers of coating for maximum light transmission and color correction, and has blackened edges to minimize internal reflection and maximize image contrast.
The aluminum housing of the focal reducer has been designed and CNC machined for precise spacing and alignment of the optical elements. Threaded metal caps are included as well, which will keep your reducer safe during storage and transport.
Celestron EdgeHD 800 Focal Reducer Highlights…
Design: 5-element optical layout designed specifically for the EdgeHD 8" to maintain the flat-field performance of the Edge HD optical design
105mm of back focus: Provides generous back focus to accommodate additional accessories and a wide variety of cameras. Also allows use of existing T-adapters for EdgeHD 800 and other Celestron imaging accessories.
One full F-Stop faster than f/10: Reduces the exposure time by one-half to capture the same brightness of object.
Increase field of view by 43%: Better for capturing wide field images of larger galaxies and nebulae.
Lanthanum Glass Elements: EdgeHD reducer uses "rare earth" Lanthanum glass elements for clear, high contrast viewing while minimizing chromatic aberration.
Fully multi-coated lens elements: All air-to-glass surfaces have multiple layers of coating for maximum light transmission and color correction.
Blacken edges: All lens elements have blacken edges to minimize internal reflection and maximize contrast.
Optimized for APS-C sized sensors: Including most DSLR cameras and Nightscape CCD cameras
Machined aluminum housing: Computer assisted CNC machined aluminum housing for precise spacing and alignment of the optical elements.
Threaded metal covers for both ends of the lens assembly: To protect your investment from unwanted dust and scratches.
Versatility: Provides an intermediate focal length between the telescope (f/10) and the optional Hyperstar accessory at f/2, making the EdgeHD the most complete imaging system in its price range.

Product QuestionsHi. Do you have a T-adapter solution for this reducer to use filter? I have EdgeHD 8", this reducer, T-adpater for HD. I'd like to add filter(s) to my astrophotography setup, but Celestron doesn't have a solution now with their own products.Question by: Jinyoung on Jan 30, 2015 9:39:52 AMIf you are using a Canon DSLR, we carry clip-in filters by Astronomik that fit inside the camera body. If you are using a CCD camera or a different brand of DSLR, we can find a way to adapt a filter in the light path, but the situation is different for different cameras. Please contact us by phone or e-mail and we can assist with your specific situation.Answer by: Chris (Admin) on Jan 30, 2015 10:27:56 AMHello. I have an edge 8, 2" filter, and sony a7r. I would like to combine this reducer with that setup as well as your 2" sct crayford focuser. Is this even possible? If so What would be required?
Question by: Alexander Arnott on Dec 25, 2016 1:10:00 PMUnfortunately, there is not enough backfocus to accomplish this configuration as the reducer takes the additional back focus down to 105mm +/-1. In addition, the reducer is optimized for a 28mm image circle, while your camera needs the 42mm image circle the scope delivers at f/10.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Dec 27, 2016 11:49:00 AMWill this reducer work with my Celestron C8 OTA? I'm imaging with a Nikon D800 and would like to increase my FOV. I also have a OPT Crayford focuser in the optical train.Question by: Kelvinmack on Oct 25, 2016 10:49:00 AMThis reducer will not work a standard SCT. the filter and spacer that would best fit a standard C8 would be the Celestron F/6.3 Reducer Correct and the Celestron T-adapter for SCT telescopes. with these two parts you will be able to attach you DSRL without any issues.
