Orion SteadyPix Universal Camera Adapter

This nifty device holds virtually any digital or film camera up to the eyepiece of any telescope to capture images of the Moon, planets, bright deep-sky objects, or terrestrial subjects. An improvement over existing designs, SteadyPix locks the camera lens in position at just the right distance and orientation relative to the eyepiece to achieve precise focus and centering of the image for afocal photography.

The Orion SteadyPix attaches directly to any standard 1.25" telescope eyepiece with one of two felt-lined eyepiece clamps provided (for standard or large-size 1.25" eyepieces). The camera threads on to a 1/4"-20 pedestal via the threaded hole in the camera body.

Eyepieces with long eye relief are recommended to minimize vignetting of images. Fits 1.25" eyepieces only.

Worth the money
For a universal adapter for cameras without threads, you can't go wrong this this number. I've used mine with BOTH a Kodak Z712 IS and a HPM425v and had great results in both still and filmed frames. At first it does take a little bit of tweaking to learn how to adjust it so that your alignment and eye piece switches go smoothly, but after the first few tries i can literally line up my shots in the dark.

I've found that 15mm and larger eye pieces work well with it, smaller apertures take more care. Personally, I like my 25mm with a 2x barlow and a 10x zoom for great planetary shots.

4.5 stars for a good adapter for non-threaded digital cameras
