Astro Systems - Telrad Dew Shield

Are you looking for a clever and inexpensive way of keeping dew or frost away from your Telrad's viewing screen? The Astro Systems Telrad Dew Shield is your answer. Fashioned from lightweight, smoke grey acrylic, this simple "box" fits directly over your Telerad with no mounting, tape or tools required. You don't even need batteries! Just click the Telrad Dew Shield into place... It's pre-formed to not interfere with adjustment knobs.  When your Telrad Finder is exposed to long periods of use, simply flip down the hinged "door" on the front of the Astro Systems Telrad Dew Shield to protect the Telrad screen. When you're ready to aim again, there's no need to remove it. Simply turn your Telrad on and flip the shield back up! What could be easier?

Clever and useful!
I have an 5-inch triplet refractor with fixed focusser and use, in addition to the finder supplied with it, two Telrads, mounted 180 degrees apart. Because of this "busy" set of finders and the fact that the focusser is fixed, the dew shield, when flipped open, tended to get in the way - right next to the focusser's adjustment knobs - not to mention I had a habit of bumping the dew shield and breaking it off. But this clip-on type solved my problems - the cover is in the front, out of the way! I made a couple of modifications - black electrical tape over the cover (protect the reticle during solar observing) and a simple rubber band to keep the cover shut when the Telrad is in the upside down position. So for my situation, this new design made life a lot easier.
