Baader Planetarium 1.25" Double Polarization Filter for Herschel Wedge
One of the most convenient characteristics of the Herschel Wedge is the partial polarizing effect it has on the solar image. Employ a polarizing filter between the Herschel Wedge and the eyepiece for a handy means of adjusting image brightness. From there, the filter-eyepiece combination can be rotated for variable image illumination. This can prove to be beneficial for attaining the optimal brightness level for the highest visual contrast at any magnification.
Please Note: Polarizing filters are intended for visual use and must only be used in conjunction with the existing internal ND=3.0 filter. A polarizing filter does not provide sufficient blocking by itself, nor is it able to block IR wavelengths as completely as an ND filter.
