The Baader polarization filter is meant for integration directly with Baaders Herschel wedge. This filter capitalizes on the partial polarizing effect inherent to the Herschel wedge when it comes to solar images, permitting a very convenient method of variable brightness adjustment in your solar viewing. These filters are meant for visual use, and must be used in conjunction with the Baader Herschel wedge to be safe for Solar use. The filters effect is that of modifying the brightness of the image produced by your astronomy system while it is in use. You rotate the filter/eyepiece combo while it is installed, and it adjusts the brightness of what you are viewing. This can be of great use in finding the optimal brightness level for the most pleasing view.
Safety Note: The Baader Polarization filters must be used in conjunction with the existing ND=3.0 filter and as part of the Herschel Wedge imaging chain to be solar-safe. A polarizing filter is not a stand alone solar filter, but rather a secondary filter to be applied to another for furhter image optimization. It is not safe to use this filter on its own for solar viewing. It must be placed after your ND=3.0 filter in your systems optical train, not before.
