SBIG has been in the camera business for 25 years. This innovative brand developed the first commercial autoguider and continues to produce robust cameras for astronomy, industry, and laboratory purposes. SBIG was also the first company to produce a commercial adaptive optics system and self-guiding filter wheels. The parent company, Diffraction Limited, writes all of the current drivers for these cameras which seamlessly integrates into Maxim DL and other software.

SBIGs Photometric Ready Cameras

SBIG STX-16801 NAGB CCD Camera

SBIG's STX-16801 Non-Anti Blooming CCD Camera was designed for photometry, astronomical survey, radiography, optical testing, and of course deep space imaging. It has ethernet and USB 2.0 ports which makes it easy to be controlled in an observatory setting. This top-level camera uses a KAF-16801 CCD sensor to achieve the highest level of quality, with 16 million pixels and each pixel sized at 9 microns providing beautifully high resolution. The sensor itself is massive with dimensions similar to medium format cameras. The cooling platform cools to -50 degrees Celsius.

SBIG STF-3200M

The SBIG STF-3200M uses one of the most sensitive CCDs available which makes this camera ideal for photometry, deep space astro-imaging, variable star monitoring, and more. The Non-Anti Blooming CCD sensor is 2184 x 1472 pixels at 6.8 microns, with built-in micro lenses producing quantum efficiency as high as 85%. The small size, light weight camera body, weighing in a 1.7 pounds, allows it to be used with almost any piece of equipment.

SBIG STF-402M

The SBIG STF-402M is an all in one camera, perfect for learning scientific imaging and often found in astronomy labs. This camera can be ordered with a BVIC or RGBC internal filter wheel making it a self-contained photometric laboratory or astro-imaging teaching tool. It also makes a perfect star tracker (auto guider) because of how sensitive the sensor is. Weighing in at 1.25 pounds, this light weight camera often serves as a great photometric teaching tool at many universities around the world.

SBIG STF-1603M

The SBIG STF-1603M camera has a scientific grade CCD KAF-1603 sensor. This compact camera produces photometric quality images and has a peak sensitivity of 80%. This 1536 x 1024, 9-micron pixel camera is used for photometric, industrial, and life science. It has a read out of 5 megapixels per second, making it one of the fastest CCD cameras in the industry.

SBIG STXL-6303E

The SBIG STXL-6303E is well suited for photometry and deep space imaging. This camera’s built in cooler can reach -60 degrees Celsius which vastly decreases the amount of noise in your images. This camera is incredibly modular allowing for self-guiding filter wheels and adaptive optics options. This observatory ready camera comes with built in Ethernet & USB 2.0 connections which allow you to connect to any network. The sensor in this camera is 6.3 mega pixels at 9 microns with dimensions similar to Canon’s APS-H detectors.
