The CPC Deluxe Mount ...
The Celestron CPC Deluxe mount uses an internal GPS receiver that automatically downloads the date and time from orbiting satellites and pinpoints its exact location on Earth. This eliminates the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude, and latitude. Once the internal GPS has established the telescope's position, aligning the telescope is as easy as 1-2-3, thanks to Celestron's Sky-Align technology! Simply use the CPC Deluxe hand control to manually point (slew) the telescope to three bright celestial objects. You do not need to know the names of the stars — you may even pick the moon or bright planets! Celestron's NexStar(R) software technology will model the night sky to determine the position of every star, planet and celestial object above the horizon. Once your Celestron CPC telescope is aligned, the remote hand control allows direct access to each of the celestial catalogs in its user-friendly database.
The Celestron CPC Deluxe database contains over 40,000 celestial objects including Messier objects and the Caldwell Catalog, as well as NGC Galaxies, nebulae and planets. User-definable filter limits make navigating through this expansive database quicker and easier. Filter Limits let you filter out objects that are outside of your local horizon (ie, if trees or mountains were in the way). The Identify feature tells you what you're looking at with your Celestron CPC Deluxe, but it can also be a very fun way to tour around the sky. Just point the telescope up somewhere and ask it to identify Messier objects (for instance) and it will show you the 5 nearest Messier objects to your position and let you GOTO them.
Celestron Edge HD Optics...
Many optical designs that advertise themselves as “astrograph” quality actually only produce pinpoint stars across a curved focal plane. While this may be acceptable for visual observing, stars will appear out of focus at the edge when used with a flat chip sensor of a digital camera. Edge HD optics produce a focal plane more than three-times flatter than a standard Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and dramatically flatter than other competing coma-free designs. This guarantees you visibly sharp stars across some of the largest CCD chips available today.

- Beautiful instrument, fantastic optics.
Purchased this instrument as a birthday present for my wife and myself. I ordered it on 3-14-13. On 3-19-13, it was on my doorstep. This scope is a great help for the pro as well as the novice. Point it at any object in the Sky, and it will not only tell you what it is, but how big it is, how far it is, its location, and intensity. On our first night with our scope we were seeing things like Orions nebula, Jupiter and its moons, Polaris, and Saturn. Saturn looked unbelievable. Like a painting in the sky. Double stars, Sirius, and many others. As for the telescope, It's big and it's heavy. I can manage the 60-70 pound tube on my own and the tripod also weighs in at about 20 pounds. Setting it up is a breeze, with its built in GPS. It's easy to get the telescope "sighted" in and your on your way to hours of the most interesting evenings in your life. One note about the GPS, it must be turned on for it to work. You can do this by going into the menu and then utilities, then GPS. Once this has been done, it's a simple matter to do any of the 4-5 different alignment procedures. My favorite is the three star sky alignment. Once again, choose any three bright objects in the sky, stars or planets or a combination of both and away you go. Simple. I purchased from OPT and was glad I did. Vince, Vinnie, Larry, and Steve were all very helpful, and instrumental in my decision on purchase. By the time it got here, it cost me close to $4000.00, but it was the best money I've ever spent. and if I had to do again tomorrow, I'd do it. I've never had a go to computerized telescope before and its great not only seeing but knowing what you are looking at. In all, a great scope and great purchase.

Product QuestionsHi Opt!
I've got a question for your experts. What is the OPTICAL TUBE OUTER DIAMETER of the CPC 11" Edge HD? I emailed Celestron a while back and never heard back.
I'm looking for 4x Solar filters as I've got 4x CPC 11" Edges units, I'm open to suggestions, I want them to be hard to remove.
Thanks for the help.Question by: Alex Holloway on Nov 16, 2015 4:50:00 PMAlex,
There are two filters that will fit the 11" HD OTA. it's approximately 313mm in diameter. The Thousand
Oaks TH-12500 glass solar filter and the AstroZap AZ-1000 oth will fit the scope. We don't
have four in stock but we can order them. If you need any more information, please call me, Steve,
at 800-483-6287. Thanks.Answer by: Steve Thornton (Admin) on Nov 17, 2015 4:05:00 PMHi OPT,
I've a question (or two actually) about the threading on the visual back. Same as 8SE?? Will my diagonals, reducer, etc., for my 8SE thread onto the CPC back cell??
Also, is the venting powered with a fan somewhere, or just convection flow ??
Thanks, MarkQuestion by: Mark on Jul 2, 2016 1:21:00 PMThe CPC EdgeHD 1100 includes both a large visual back (3.29"-16 TPI) and a step-down adapter to a standard SCT back (2.00"-24 TPI - the same thread as the back of your current SCT), meaning all of your current accessories can be used on both telescopes. Celestron only designed the EdgeHD scopes for passive cooling through the mesh vents. Some third parties have made fans to fit over these vents, but neither Celestron nor OPT carry them, and Celestron has warned that they can force fine dust into the optical tube in some conditions.
You cannot use the same reducer on the CPC deluxe due to the differences in optical design from the rear corrector lenses. This scope needs a different reducer. Please contact us if you have any questions.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Jul 3, 2016 12:40:00 PMhow much better is this scope vs old cpc units that had great optics but the drive gears where terrible, not looking for same heart break, and do you still have them in stockQuestion by: michael kolb on May 11, 2015 2:41:00 PMMichael,
The CPC 1100 HD has upgraded gears and drive compared to previous models. It also uses the
5 amp. power supply. I personally have the 1100 CPC SCT version and I've never had any trouble
with the mount, but, having said that, the CPC HD is an improvement. We do have them in stock;
if you have any other questions, please give me, Steve, a call here at OPT at 800-483-6287.
