Great purchase!
The NexStar 6SE is really a fun telescope--very easy to set up and use. The Sky Align feature, where you simply point at any three bright stars, is pretty easy to do and usually results in an excellent alignment. Indeed, the first night I used this, once I aligned it, I used the Sky Tour feature to let the NexStar suggest objects to view, and each object ended up in the field of view of the telescope. I really like the red dot finder--much easier to use for alignment than a traditional finder scope. The optics seem pretty good, and the mount is solid. Very little vibration in the view through the eyepiece even when the motors are slewing--very smooth! My wife says I had a pretty big grin on my face while I was trying this thing out for the first time!

Very Fun, room to improve
I bought this scope from OPT last month and it has really reinvigorated my night viewing. It replaced my 5 newtonian with no GoTo capabilities. Setup was 20 minutes easy out of the box. Learning the hand control took some more time but functional GoTo viewing could be achieved in less than an hour. Once aligned, the scope does all it says it can - slewing around the heavens is really fun and convenient. It beats reviewing charts in the dark then hoping you can find it in the sky. Image clarity is wonderful. The construction is sturdy though the motors and gears are a bit rough sounding making me wonder about durability down the line.
There are some things Celestron could do to make this a better product: The date and time needs to be manually input at every viewing. The NextStar system should keep the current date and time even when powered down. Celestron sells a $200+ GPS device that does this automatically (plus other functions but the scope should keep the current time and date right out of the box like any other consumer electronic device.
Next, the scope contains computer software (NeXRemote and TheSky to connect your computer to the scope for enhanced viewing. The software is Windows only - Mac version would be welcome.
Also the supplied cable is RS 232 - almost an artifact by today's computing standards. USB cable should have been included. Of note, Celestron will lighten your wallet about $40 if you want USB to RS-232 to scope connectivity.

In summary:

-Great sophisticated consumer oriented telescope with easy setup and portability. Great image quality.
-The scope needs to remember time and date without buying a $200 accessory.
- No Mac software alienates a significant share of market (maybe enclose a discounted software offer for Starry Night or Voyager IV Mac software
- Ditch the RS 232 cable and replace with USB equivalent. Celestron should not charge $40 for adaptor to present technology.
