The all new iOptron MiniTower Pro has all the GOTO technology and portablity as the MiniTower. Plus, it offers six times greater encoder resolution for enhanced tracking performance. It also includes a beefier 2-inch tripod and a heavier payload of 33 pounds.
The iOptron MiniTower Pro
The iOptron MiniTower Pro is the answer you're looking for when it comes to needing a sturdy, portable GoTo mount capable of handling larger loads. The Mini Tower Pro makes good use of its heavier stainless steel alloy 2" leg tripod and can take on payloads up to 33 pounds. What's more, it comes standard with two dovetail adapters - ready to take on most standard telescopes.
Do you need portable? Then say no more. With all the standard components packaged in an alloy metal case (with the exception of the tripod), the iOptron MiniTower can easily be carried around in a car trunk or as airline luggage. The whole system takes only 10 minutes to assemble. This unlimited portability, combined with the internal GPS, gives amateur astronomers extreme flexibility in selecting an observing location.
Equipped with the most advanced SmartStar GoTo technology, the iOptron MiniTower Pro will soon become one of the most sought after, most powerful and most accurate GoTo mounts available. The standard 8401 hand controller offers superb navigation, and comes with an 8-line LCD back‐lit display, a 130,000 object database and a USB port for easy connection with ASCOM compliant PC planetarium programs. With improved encoder accuracy of 1 arc minute and even more precision auto‐tracking, MiniTower Pro will consistently bring the celestial object of your choice to the center of the eyepiece and keep tracking on that object for hours.
Powered with other features such as automatic over‐current protection, automatic clutch protection for both axes, easy 3‐point level adjustment, dual scope setup with two dovetails and much more, the iOptron MiniTower Pro is one of the most user‐friendly GoTo mounts you'll ever encounter! Product QuestionsIs this mount suitable for a binocular of larger aperture? Could a binocular be installed on this mount? The verbiage uses the phrase "Manual push‐to for both Axes ", does this mean after alignment it can be moved manually, still knowing where it is, and return to an object without realignment?Question by: Corey on Jan 29, 2016 9:22:00 AMUnfortunately, no. iOptron is just differentiating the MiniTower Pro from competing mounts that only allow manual push to operation in one axis or not at all. Any manual operation of the mount will confuse any existing GoTo alignment and would require the user to either realign or carefully manually recenter the last object they used GoTo to find before the manual movement in order to retain their GoTo functionality.Answer by: Chris Hendren on Feb 1, 2016 6:49:00 PM
