Vixen Sphinx SXD2 Equatorial Mount w/ Star Book One Hand Controller & HAL-130 Tripod
Both the RA and DEC Axes are constructed from robust steel with brass wheel gears. This gives the mount the capacity to carry up to 50-lb. payloads with counterweights for astrophotography.
Vixen has modified its already innovative SXD Mount to create a more solid platform for astrophotography with an even greater payload capacity. Low volume stepping motors ensure smooth slewing with fast reactions to commands.
Increased Loading Capacity:
Smooth RA and DEC Movement: The interior of the new SXD2 mount is very different from the previous SX Mounts. RA and DEC axes and screw gear shafts now feature additional bearings. Smooth movement is enabled through worm screw gears that have been polished in the whole-circle and meticulously examined for precise concentricity.

Product QuestionsQuestion by: B Schade on Aug 2, 2015 4:56:00 PMThe manufacturer states 50 lbs including counterweights. Because of the "bottom-heavy" design of the SXD2 (RA and DEC motors and housings act as a partial counterweight), the maximum payload is around 30-35 lbs with 15-20 lbs of counterweights (as long as top payload can balance and the total is under 50lbs).Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Aug 3, 2015 12:39:00 PM
