Product QuestionsMay I use my Meade LX200 ACF f/10 telescope wth this mount without damage it?
Thanks for your prompt answer.Question by: ROSENDO DORIA FRAGOSO on Feb 23, 2016 3:22:00 PMIf the tube has been removed from the fork and an appropriate dovetail has been installed, you can mount either an 8" or 10" LX200 f/10 optical tube on this mount without damaging this mount, as long as you have enough counterweights on the shaft to balance the weight.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Feb 23, 2016 4:37:00 PMFor the EQ-G mount, can I use the mount to point and track satellites? Can I use the mount with an attached star tracker to get better quality astroimagers? once I find a DSO or some such thing, will the report be able report its current position?Question by: George Robinson on Dec 20, 2014 7:47:12 AMThe Atlas EQ-G mount can be adapted to satellite tracking, but to do so requires connection to a Windows based PC running EQMODLX software which converts Meade LX200 satellite tracking protocol to EQ-G equatorial coordinates.
The mount does have an autoguider port and a guide camera and scope/OAG can be used to improve tracking in long exposures.
If you are hooked up to EQMODLX software, you can get real time RA and DEC coordinates through the software. Additionally, the Atlas hand controller has a "Show Position" option under the Utilities menu that can be accessed whether or not the mount is connected to a computer.Answer by: Chris (Admin) on Dec 24, 2014 8:43:09 AMCould you tell me: if power is interrupted do you loose alignment?
Also is there a provision to retain alignment when shutting off?
Thanks!Question by: Armando Merlo on Oct 24, 2015 3:27:00 PMThe mount will lose alignment if the power is interrupted. There is a park feature on the hand controller that can be set before powering off the mount, when the power is turned back on all you will need to enter is the time, and date. You will not need to realign the mount.Answer by: Todd R (Admin) on Oct 27, 2015 8:54:00 AM
