Product QuestionsDoes this mount allow for pc control with standard ascom driver software programs, like Stellarium or others?Question by: David on Oct 8, 2015 8:40:00 AMThe EXOS-2 GoTo mount has a Vixen Style Saddle and will accept your C8 with Vixen dovetail natively. The 9.9 lb counterweight will be enough to balance your scope visually, and you can always add another weight if you plan on doing any imaging with this setup. This mount is an excellent match for your scope.Answer by: Chris Hendren (Admin) on Oct 8, 2015 10:45:00 AMDoes this mount can be assembled this astrograph?
ThanksQuestion by: Luis on Feb 10, 2016 1:53:00 PMYes, it will be a good fit. The Orion Newtonian you've noted does not include a dovetail, but both it and the Explore Scientific mount are compatible with a variety of Vixen-style dovetails that will allow them to work together. Orion's OR-7383 and OR-7385 are two examples.Answer by: Eric Blackhurst (Admin) on Feb 12, 2016 5:32:00 PMCan a dslr camera screw on to this mount for doing long exposure astrophotography? I plan on getting a telescope later on. Around a 10" reflector, so this mount looks like it would support a telescope that large.
Dan VitaleQuestion by: Daniel Vitale on Nov 21, 2016 9:08:00 PMGood afternoon and thanks for asking. A camera wn't bolt on directly. You will need to get a short, 7", Vixen size bar. The bar will attach to the camera with a 1/4X20 socket head screw and then the bar will slide into the saddle on the mount.Answer by: Charles Walker (Admin) on Nov 22, 2016 3:58:00 PMDoes ES have any plans to upgrade the goto system similar to what you have done on the Losmandy G11?Question by: Thomas on Apr 6, 2016 9:32:00 PMThe EXOS-2 can track through the meridian, but how far is dependent on both object-declination and length of the mounted telescope. If one is using a refractor, or other long physical-length optical-system, and pointing toward North-East, potential collision with the tripod-leg on the SW side of the mount.
Painting any such subject with a broad-brush gets messy. If you already own the telescope you plan to use with this mount, or have a good idea of what will take that place, please give us a call or email us directly.Answer by: Eric Blackhurst (Admin) on Apr 11, 2016 5:35:00 PMQuestion by: Danny Jalife on Feb 14, 2016 7:48:00 PMIf you plan on using this mount only with the hand controller (not using any planetarium software to control the mount) this would be an excellent choice for your scope. Currently, there are not any ASCOM driver for this mount but it works great if you are just using the hand controller.Answer by: Jonathan Cheek (Admin) on Feb 15, 2016 4:47:00 PM
