Telescope Engineering Company was started in 1994 as an optical company producing refractor lenses, large reflector mirrors and Maksutov optics. Always made to exacting standards, TEC has had the opportunity to work on some epic projects. They have provided seven 1 meter optical systems to Mt. Wilson's observatory program to build a multi- interferometer, a project to search for planets that may be orbiting our nearest stars. Among their other large scale projects are a handful of 1m plus Cassegrains in Japan and a huge 1.4m telescope located in an observatory in South Africa.
In 1998, TEC made the leap into larger productions of small consumer optics in the US by moving their facilities to Golden, Colorado. What started with 6-10" Maksutov Cassegrains graduated at the start of the new century to high quality Apochromatic refractors. These telescopes are carefully produced in controlled batches to maintain a superb professional quality and unparalleled level of quality control.
