Comet ISON Photo Contest Rules & Regulations

No Purchase Necessary.  Entrants are not required to make a purchase or have been a prior customer, in order to participate in the photo contest. Contest begins noon Pacific Time, November 1st, 2013 and ends midnight December 31st, 2013.  Late entries will not be accepted.  Entry into this contest constitutes your acceptance of the rules and regulations outlined below.

WHO MAY ENTER:

The Comet ISON Photo Contest is open to participants worldwide, aged 13 years and older with a valid email address.  Employees of OPT, the contest partners and prize donors and their immediate families are not eligible for entry.  Proof of identity may be required upon winning.

ENTRY:

Entrants who enter via Facebook must also "Like" the OPT Telescopes page and are required to submit their date of birth, email address, real name and techincal information about their image. Entrants using either Spaceweather.com or UniverseToday.com must comply to those sites' user requirements/ agreements.  Emailed entires are also required to list date of birth, and information about their image in regard to equipment used and location captured.  All emailed submissions will be manually entered onto the OPT Facebook gallery to participate in the popular vote. One image, per day, per entrant is allowed.

Entry must be the original work of the contestant, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person and must not violate any law.  The entry must also be a still image, captured either digitally or on film of Comet ISON.  Alteration of the image to enhance the natural appearance of comet ISON as determined to be within the realm of 'normal' image editing is acceptable.  Any image OPT feels has been greatly altered or that is comprised entirely of other subject matter apart from Comet ISON will be eliminated. Artworks created using non-photographic media will not be accepted.

OPT reserves the right to disqualify any entry for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion.

Odds of winning depend upon number of entries received.

JUDGING AND WINNER SELECTION:

Winners will be selected by popular vote and by a small panel of employees at OPT, Spaceweather.com and UniverseToday.com.  Voting ends December 31st, 2013 at midnight Pacific Time.  The final images with the most votes will win.  The images with the most votes at the end of the voting period will undergo a final review by OPT to eliminate possible fraudulent entries. 

Entrants may enter more than once but are eligible for only one prize.  Winning by popular vote will automatically eliminate your image(s) from being eligible for other prizes.

OPT reserves final choice in the contest winners and decisions are final.

WINNER SELECTION:

Winners will be decided no later than January 7th and winners will be notified via email.  Each winner will have 7 days to claim their prize or another winner be will selected.  A list of winners will be posted on the OPT main commerce site, www.optcorp.com and on our Facebook page. OPT reserves the right to eliminate a winner if false contact information has been provided, any of the rules has been violated or though failure to provide requested information for delivery of the prize.

Prizes will be awarded at OPT's discretion.   OPT will cover shipping & handling expenses through a carrier of their choice to any address within the contiguous 48 US states.  Winners lying outside of this area may or may not qualify for 100% coverage of shipping costs; entrants may be required to pay a portion or all of the shipping & handling costs in some instances.   All international taxes, customs and duties are the sole responsbility of the winner.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

Entry constitutes permission to use the Winner's name, images, prize won and location (all OPT's discretion) for future advertising, publicity in any and all media now or hereafter used by the company in perpetuity.  No additional compensation will be awarded and no additional notification will be provided.  

OPT and the contest partners are not responsible for late, damaged, misdirected, incomplete or incorrect entries. OPT is not responsible for any techincal errors in relation to Facebook, email clients/ programs or entry forms used by the entrants that hinder their participation in this contest.  OPT reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the contest in the event it becomes technically impaired, and to cancel or suspend the contest in its entirety should tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or other causes corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper play of the contest.:
