  • Wow, an Astronomik Luminance (L) Filter for your Canon Full-Frame (i.e., 5D, 6D) EOS camera that clips in above the mirror! All normal functions of your EOS camera will be unaffected...focus, image stabilization, etc.
  • The Astronomik Luminance (IR/UV Blocking) Filter is mounted in an XL Canon EOS filter clip that fits almost all Canon EOS full-frame cameras.
  • The typical transmission is higher than 99%.
  • The Astronomik Luminance (IR/UV Blocking) Filter is optimized for systems with focal ratios between f/0.5 and f/50.
  • Hard coatings protect against scratching, fading, and humidity.

Astronomik Luminance (IR/UV Blocking) Filter - Canon EOS Full-Frame XL Clip

The Astronomik Luminance UV and IR cut Filter is great for for digital photography! The Astronomik UV-IR Blocker lets the full range of sensitivity of the human eye (according to DIN 5031) pass, and blocks all other parts of the spectrum in the UV and IR. The Astronomik UV-IR Blocker is the ideal choice as a luminance filter for any kind of digital photography.

Because of the perfect blocking of UV and IR all optical problems in these parts of the spectrum are avoided. The filter is optimized for systems with focal ratios between f/0.5 and f/50. The typical transmission is higher than 99%.

The UV-IR Blocker gives you a perfect parfocal filter for the luminance channel. It is also great as a dust protection for your telescope and camera. It works as a dust protection of Schmidt-Cassegrain, Schmidt-Newton or Maksutov system or as a dust protection in front of DSLR camera and can be used as an alternative instead of the IR-Blocker if your camera has a high sensitivity at short wavelengths. Try using the Astronomik Luminance (IR/UV Blocking) Filter as an alternative instead of the MC Clear if your system has any refracting elements.

You should think about using the IR-blocker if your camera has a low sensitivity at short wavelengths. Think about using the MC Clear glass if you have a system without any refracting elements. If you do color imaging from light polluted places, please think about using the CLS CCD filter for the luminance data instead!

About the Astronomik XL Clip-Filter System....

The patented Astronomik Clip-Filter System for Canon full-frame cameras is black anodized aluminum and laser-cut on state-of-the-art modern machines. It can be inserted within seconds directly into any full-frame (5D and 6D, for example) EOS camera body. There are no changes necessary and all lens functions (focus, screen, image stabilization) remain functional! If you have a EOS Rebel, or other Canon APS-C sized camera body, you should purchase the standard-sized Astronomik Luminance EOS Clip filter instead.

Almost all Canon system lenses (with the exception of the EF-S series) and all M42 and T2 lens adapters, can be used with the Astronomik Clip-Filter System. The Clip-Filter System also acts as an outstanding dust shield, which prevents the possibility of dust settling on the sensor during long time exposure (The MC-Clear filter does not have a filter effect and only acts as a dust shield.)

Astronomik Luminance (IR/UV Blocking) Filter - Canon EOS Clip Features

Product Questions

I have a canon 6d Full spectrum with clear filter. I usually take astro-Landscapes and I am wondering if I can use this filter with custom white balance and get the Natural color with H alpha enhanced? I tried using CLS-CCD filter but custom white balance is not working for me. If this is not a right choice, can you suggest me a filter for my full spectrum what works w/o color cast.
1
The focus position on camera it's same as original? (without internal original canon uv/ir/Ha cut filter) or we need to move sensor more in front? And also to be sure, it never produce vignetting on full frame regardless of F ratio?
-2
Can this filter be used as a UV/IR filter in a full-spectrum camera (a camera where the UV/IR filter was been removed), thereby restoring something close to the camera's original spectral sensitivity.
