Tele Vue 32mm Plossl Eyepiece
Since Televue introduced their Plössls in 1980, they have won praise and patents, including a patent in Japan. Tele Vue Plössls, designed by Al Nagler, have been a recognized benchmark of performance and value in the class of 50 degree apparent field of view eyepieces. While the Plössls may be the least expensive eyepiece line, they still enjoy the same care and attention to detail as the most expensive. While it's easy for other manufacturers to vie for the lowest price, Tele Vue continues to believe that quality, performance and consistency will ultimately reward you with the most value for your dollar.
Diffraction limited "on-axis" performance is a given. Using more expensive high-index glasses to reduce astigmatism and lateral color at the field's edge, Tele Vue Plössls deliver sharper images than any other brand of 4 or 5 element "Plossl" or Orthoscopic designs. The faster the focal ratio of your telescope, the greater your visual reward for using Tele Vue eyepieces. Tele Vue Plössls feature full multicoatings for greatest light transmission and contrast. Blackened lens edges and internal anti-reflection threads tweak the last bit of contrast for maximum image detail. The sharper field focuses faint star light into perceptible points and allows those with undriven mounts to gaze longer before repositioning the image.
The 55mm focal length has the largest true field possible for 2" eyepiece holders -3 times the true field area of any 1-1/4" eyepiece. The focal plane is placed at the end of the barrel to minimize vignetting. Performance with Schmidt-Cassegrains is remarkable since it avoids the image degradation and severe vignetting which occurs when using telecompressors. Long eye-relief and unique adjustable eyeguard for eyeglass wearers.
In the 1-1/4" series TeleVue included a long eye-relief 40mm focal length in the series with a 43 degree apparent field. Like the 55mm, its focal plane is at the barrel edge for maximum field in the 1-1/4" format. The 32mm Plossl, with its larger 50 degree apparent field, will deliver the same true field as the 40mm but with higher magnification. The 32mm is parfocal with the shorter focal length Plössls. The 25mm, 20mm, 15mm, 11mm and 8mm Plössls round out the focal lengths for various observing from deep sky to planetary. They work best with Tele Vue Powermates to effectively double the number of focal lengths in your collection. Far superior to eyepieces usually provided as standard with most instruments.
For a bit more than generic brands, you can own a genuine Tele Vue Plossl!

This eyepiece has been my workhorse for over 15 years, I use it a lot on a 13 inch f 4.5 dobsonian and the views are great, it is a very comfoftable eyepiece, the stars are ALLWAYS pinpoints no mater the scope.
Now that I want to get a large TFOV this is the eyepiece that I use to rate other eyepieces, and is hard to find such an eyepiece under 400 dolars, I want to replace it with a 31mm Nagler (620 dlsor a 30mm Pentax (580 dlsor better with a 17mm Ethos (750dls, so, for the 100 dls that I paid 15 years ago I can say that I'm more than happy this eyepiece is highly recomended, it has an excelent edge correction, is very brigth and the contrast is perfect.
When I'm done observing the moon with the 13mm Nagler on the 2.5 Powermate i my 13/f4.5 scope (excelent high power views, I go back to the 32mm Plossl and spend quite a time (several minutes just enjoying the 43X view.
This eyepiece is not a widefield, is a 50 degrees AFOV and is like the metro patrón on which all eyepieces should be rated.

- Questions & Answers
Product QuestionsGood morning. Could you please tell me which of your plastic eyepiece cases would be the best fit for this (1.25" Televue 32mm Plossl) eyepiece? I'm also looking at the 1.25" Televue 2x barlow. Could you tell me which case is best for that as well? Thank you!
