Description

Details

Celestron brings us the Nightscape, a full featured color CCD camera that will cost you less than your telescope likely did! Using Kodak's KAI-10100 color sensor, the Nightscape offers performance that rivals CCD brands twice the price.

Celestron Nightscape Features...

  • The Nightscape offers superior versatility by allowing for a variety of binning options, and a compact 4.75 square pixel size making it highly compatible with a variety of focal lengths.
  • The Kodak KAI-10100 Color Sensor offers both light sensitivity and a balanced spectral response for capturing true color fidelity in a fraction of the time as compared to imaging with a color filter wheel.
  • Regulated Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) and variable fan control provides a vibration free air flow, dramatically reducing thermal noise inherent in all CCD sensors.
  • A compact 4 inch diameter design make it a perfect pairing to the Faster system. The aluminum body is symmetrical and well balanced.
  • The Nightscape's imaging sensor is about the same distance to the telescope as most DSLR's meaning you can use most standard t- adapters and rings to connect to your telescope.
  • Celestron AstroFX software takes you step-by-step from taking images to processing the final result. AstroFX gives you full control of your camera from temperature regulation, exposure control as well as computer assisted focusing for easy image acquisition. AstroFX knows just what to do with your images and calibration frames to create a final master image that's been stacked, stretched, sharpened, saturated and ready to share with your friends in a snap.
  • The Celestron Nightscape is also compatible with popular image processing software like MaximDL and ASCOM driver.
  • A full frame image buffer allows you to keep on imaging, even while you're downloading.

nice camera
I've had this camera for about 2 years and have taken hundreds of pictures with very good luck. nice colors and contrast. with the large chip I can get larger objects in one picture . but if you want to take images of the moon or planets I have to use alot of dark filters or it will be too bright. All in all nice camera.

Nightscape Excels
Superb product that lives up to expectations. Delivers great images especially when coupled with a F 6:5 reducer. Still learning to get the best out of the unit and have trouble getting acceptable flat images. Galaxies at 1 x binning at F6:5 are great. Nebulas at Binning x 2 and F6:5 provide exceptional details from my F10 Celestron C11.

I might want to ask.
What Is array of the CCD sensor color filter array of Bayer Filter?
Which is of Bayer (BGGR) or (GBRG) or (GRBG) or (RGGB)?
Thank you for your reply.

1. Is this camera short enough to fit on my 1984 Celestron Super C8 (fork-mounted) SCT?
2. Would it attach directly to the 2" threaded hub at the rear of the optical tube?
3. Is the "excessive brightness" problem mentioned by tom47 in the Reviews section correctable with the included software?
Thank you.
