DetailsThe Field Map of the Moon is made for observer's who have telescopes that produce a reversed, or "mirror image" of objects as viewed through your star diagonal, like a refractor, Schmidt-Cassegrain, or Maksutov-Cassegrain. It can be difficult to see and identify landmarks on the Moon with a standard map through these telescopes, especially if you are a beginner. The Sky & Telescope Field Map of the Moon, illustrated by Antonin Rukl, takes a lot of the guesswork out of lunar observations by matching what you see through the eyepiece!
This map is made for the outdoors. It is laminated to protect it against dew and dirt, and you'll be able to use wipe-off markers to note where you've been, or where you stopped off the last time you toured the Moon. The map comes folded in quarters so that you can look at one quadrant at a time if you wish, and makes it easy to store inside a larger sky atlas or in your accessory case. Users appreciate the fact that lunar features are repeated where the map folds, which means you won't lose details in the creases of the folds. The Field Map of the Moon - Mirror Image, measures 11.8" X 11.8" when closed, and opens to 24" x 24". Inside you'll find over 1,000 labeled landmarks (with a complete list on the back), and libration zones complete with scales showing the amount of libration in degrees.
