Takahashi EM-200 Temma II Mount

The Takahashi EM-200 Temma II is an accurate, precision-built GoTo German equatorial mount that provides a stable platform for payloads of up to 40 pounds. It is an ideal mount for any type telescope, be it a refractor, reflector, or cassegrain. The modern aesthetic design of the EM-200 is highly attractive as well as beautifully functional. The RA and DEC stepper motors are fully integrated into the mounting, and the high precision design and construction provides cyclic errors lower than +/- 5 arc seconds.

The integrated polar alignment telescope has an illuminated reticule which can be dimmed to suit the user or observing conditions. In conjunction with the precision altitude and azimuth adjusters, this will typically give polar alignment accuracy within 2 minutes of arc of the celestial pole. Included in this package are an RS232C cable, ST-4 or ST-7 cable, shaft encoders, hand controller, power cord for both 12V and 24V operation.

The new style EM-200 mounts include the ability for operation on 12v or 24v and feature high speed slewing at 700x at 12v and 700x at 24v. 12V operation (12v DC only for high speed operation) takes place with the use of the hand controller only. The mount will then function just like the EM-200 USD model (no GoTo functions). However, with the use of the hand controller and your PC, you can operate with 12V or 24V (two 12V batteries connected in series). 12V will give you a slewing speed of up to 700X sidereal, and 24V will produce slew speeds of up to 700X. A hand controller and power cable for 12V/220V battery connection is included. A PC is required for GoTo operations.

The perfect medium mount Review by Miguelo
1= Houston, We Have a Problem & 5= It's Out of This World
I´m a proud owner for 6 years and used just in astrophoto, where do it´s best: an engineerig piece of work out of this world, quiet, no need drift align and exposures 20minutes long at 2350 mm of focal lenght with round star with autoguiding (Posted on 8/27/15)
Great Mount Review by JJ

I have owned some mounts and this is the best medium duty mount I'v had. The gotos are very accurate, the tracking excellent and the finish great.
Yes, it is expensive for its payload capacity, but the money you spend in it will give you a lifetime of enjoy, not headaches. (Posted on 10/13/10)
Excellent! Review by Tim
1= Houston, We Have a Problem & 5= It's Out of This World
This mount is an outstanding machine. No more drift aligning as the super accurate polar scope is correctly aligned out of the box - I get no drift at 300x after a quick (but careful alignment and I'm ready to image even before it's really dark enough. Tracking is excellent and the mount guides very well. I measured 7 arc seconds peak to peak PE on my mount. I'm getting photos that I'm very happy with now after struggling with a lesser mount. My goto's are very good on the same side of the meridian but they are off a little when crossing the meridian. Not a big deal since I primarily image with the mount and the very quick one star alignment after a meridian flip is really no big deal - literally takes two minutes and hit sync on your planetarium program. Also, thought the lack of a real handset (e.g. autostar, nexstar would bug me but it does not at all. I use a small netbook computer and it's great - actually prefer it now even when using it for visual. This is a very fine mount. The Astro-Physics mounts probably have even better tracking with PEC but I don't plan to buy one as the A-P mounts don't have the Tak polar scope which I just love because of the time savings in getting a very precise polar alignment. You can't go wrong with this mount. Looks great too with the paint color and wooden legs. I've used mine for 6 months before posting the review. (Posted on 10/30/09)
This is it! Review by Chris Hendren
1= Houston, We Have a Problem & 5= It's Out of This World
My search for the ultimate mid-size mount is over! Nothing else in its size class compares unless you count the AP Mach 1 ($900 more and an 18 month wait to get a new one. It has to be hooked up to a computer for the Temma GoTo system to work - which I thought would be annoying at first - but the mount integrates seamlessly with The Sky6 software and a 1-star alignment is all I need to land targets near the center of my camera's field of view all over the sky. The mount is quiet, too! 5/5. (Posted on 4/20/09)

1= Houston, We Have a Problem & 5= It's Out of This World
This is the medium level mount that is a total joy to use. It's PEC is extremely low in error giving you excellent guiding with a fair amount of weight. Like all Takahashi mounts they are precision engineered from the ground up and the quality shows it. Truely a remarkable mount but owner should know that it does require a PC in the field to operate the go-to system. There is also a new hand controller in the form of an HP Pocket PC.
