My best scope yet
I received my new Omni XLT 120 refractor about 3:00 pm Friday, July 20th. I set it up to get familiar with this scopes features. Everything in the two packages arrived intact. First was the size, wow this is a large scope. The tripod and the mount, especially the mount, are quite heavy. This makes for a really stable platform. Considering the weight once fully assembled, slewing the scope was effortless. Just balance the scope as described in the manual. Note to Celestron: The box with the tripod and the box with the OTA both had manuals and software. The only problem I have to report is that I had to take apart the 1.25 star diagonal as the mirror was not positioned correctly. Two minutes to fix, no big. That night (last night I took the new Omni out to the dark site to meet several astronomy club members and go for a test viewing. Another WOW! Everybody was impressed by the h... |

My second and best telescope yet
I've been thinking of buying this telescope for about a week, reading reviews where ever I can find them. Seeing some good reviews, the urge to buy it was too much. Yeah it took a week to come in 2nd Day Air but it was worth waiting for. I didn't expect the two boxes it came in to be so big. Both boxes showed signs of wear but the bubble wrap and the packing foam held. When I first took out the telescope from the box, I was stunned by the size of the telescope. It was a little bigger than I had expected it to be but it doesn't bother me. Set up was easy to understand in the manual, but there were a few typos I believe. No bother there but it needs to be corrected. The mount is nice and sturdy, that's a plus for me. It took me a while to understand the equatorial mount since this is my first move from Alt-Azimuth mount. The only reason I knocked off 1/2 a star is becaus... |

Omni XLT 120
Recently I ordered a Celestron Omni XLT 120 refractor telescope and the optional eyepiece set. I received it one week after my internet order. Optcorp must have loaded the scope on a truck as soon as I pressed the send button! Optcorp gets 5 stars. Thanks Optcorp.
My order arrived in three large boxes and the packaging was very sturdy. All the parts were there and labeled well. Everything fit together easily with almost no need to resort to instructions.
The Omni XLT is larger than I had expected. I mean, I knew the exact dimensions from my research into which scope would best serve my needs and budget. I even laid it out with a tape measure on my table to get an idea of size. But, you just don't realize how big it is until it's in your hands. The size is one of my problems with this scope. The mount, being manually operated, puts the comtrols almost out of reach while ... |
