Meade ETX Automatic Alignment and SmartFinder
 The high-tech electronics that come with your Meade ETX Premier Edition automatically levels your telescope, points it to North and sets the time. You just enter your location or zip code. After your Meade ETX completes its patented Level North automatic alignment procedure it will point to the first alignment star. Use the included wide-field SmartFinder to center the red dot over the alignment stars for ultra-precise pointing accuracy. It's that easy.

- Premium Meade Diffraction Limited Optics. Beware of cheap knock-offs with chromatic aberration, astigmatism, and other terms you may not have learned yet. Meade optics have led the industry for twenty years. You get what you pay for. Sky & Telescope wrote, "I could see every wisp of velvet on the antlers of a deer 50 feet away" and, "Views of the moon and planets were all satisfyingly crisp." The corrector lens of the Meade ETX is made of premium BK7 Glass.
- Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design. This optical design out-performs many telescopes of larger apertures. Sky & Telescope said, "(ETX) stellar diffraction patterns were virtually textbook perfect." The compound optical design packs a lot of telescope in a small and portable package.
- Oversized Primary Mirror. Only Meade manufacturers primary mirrors larger than the telescope's listed aperture to capture more light.

Great value
The first impression you get when you open the box is, this is a quality instrument. Set up was a snap, auto alignment even easier. Jupiter was perfect, with crisp, dark bands and four distinct, pinpoint moons visible even with the supplied 26mm Plossl - and even in our terribly light-polluted south Florida sky. Can't wait to give it a try in darker skies. Outstanding. |

ETX125
The ETX125 is a very good telescope however the included finder scope should be replaced by a telrad which is independent of the 'scope and works much better |

The ETX-125E is a very good telescope but the finder scope is trash, my 'scope arrived with the finder scope partially broke off it's mount, rather than return it I drilled extra holes to mount it.
also I wish that this finder scope could be used without the 'scope having to be turned on. |
