Meade 10" f/10 LX90-ACF Advanced Coma-Free Telescope
The Meade LX90-ACF UHTC catadioptric telescope brings the experience and equipment of a professional observatory to your backyard, at a very down-to-earth price. The Meade LX-90 ACF series has a flat, coma-free field similar to that of designs used in most professional observatory telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope, but at a mere fraction the cost.
The Meade LX90-ACF series has a coma-free field that is well suited for astrophotography and combined with enough light gathering ability to keep you interested in observing. The LX-90 has multicoated UHTC optics which deliver 15% higher light transmission than ordinary single-layer coatings for brighter images and shorter exposure times. Add to that a portable size that makes transporting the LX90-ACF to a dark sky site and you'll find you have all the features you might ever need in one telescope package.
When you get an LX90-ACF you get standard equipment which includes a GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) receiver, proprietary LNT (Level North Technology), and AutoAlign software embedded in the AutoStar computer. This makes for a telescope that's incredibly simple to set up and to use. What could be easier than a telescope that even automatically aligns for you? Just turn it on and the GPS receiver automatically determines your position and time, and the LNT system automatically levels the optical tube and points it north. From there, the AutoStar computer with AutoAlign does the rest – aligning the telescope and providing you with a data base of objects to chose from.
The Meade LX90-ACF represents the latest step in the evolution of the LX90, featuring Meade's f/10 Advance Coma Free Optics. Building from a classic RC design, Meade has created a new optical design with the same coma-free pinpoint star images and flatter field that discerning astrophotographers and most professional observatories expect. The LX90-ACF with Meade’s Advanced Coma-Free system also reduces the astigmatism and eliminates diffraction spikes found in classical RCs. No competing Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope can make those claims. Global Positioning System - The Meade LX90-ACF can do more than track satellites. It talks to them as well. Turn it on and the built-in Sony® GPS sensor immediately determines your precise date, time and location. AutoAlign™ then uses this info to align your scope for a tour of the most spectacular sights in the universe. With all the features of the legendary LX90GPS, plus the additon of Advanced Coma-Free optics and the ability to communicate to satellites, the new LX90-ACF now has it all.
- AutoAlign – Telescopes with Meade’s new AutoAlign come pre-aligned. They are smart scopes that know the night sky right out of the box. AutoAlign picks two fail-proof alignment stars for you and places them right in your viewfinder. Just center them to fine tune your alignment and the wonders of the universe are at your fingertips.
- Oversized Primary Mirror – Only Meade manufactures their primary mirrors in diameters larger than their listed aperture (e.g. the diameter of the 8" LX90’s primary mirror is actually 8.25").This additional 1/4" yields a wider, fully illuminated field-of-view, and allows you to see the light other telescopes leave behind.

I have only had mine a short period but it has worked flawlessly during that period. Great optics and the go-to is much more accurate than my old ETX-125. I had to wait several months for this to be in stock but it was worth the wait. |
