The Original Telrad Illuminated Red Bulls-Eye Finderscope
There's a reason the original Telrad Finder is often called a
reflex sight - because that's all it takes to aim! When
mounted on a telescope, the Telrad provides a
non-magnified window on the sky and projects 1/2°, 2° and 4°
illuminated red bullseye circles on the screen which can
be brightened or dimmed for user needs. Simply place the star in the
center of the bulls eye and start star hopping! Both beginning
astronomers and seasoned veterans alike enjoy the Telrad's red
circle view, because it makes it easy to compare to star charts and
find objects. For example, a galaxy located 4° southeast of a
star becomes simple to locate because your visual reference points are
clearly defined. No wonder the Telrad reflex finder is one of the most
popular astronomy accessories!
Adding a Telrad Finder to your telescope is
equally easy. Simply connect the included Mounting Base using
either provided screws or double-sided tape, align, and you're ready
to begin. Additional mounting plates can be purchased and your Telrad
bullseye can moved from scope to scope! Indispensable for accurately centering alignment stars for Go-To telescope models and a "must have" for dobsonian users, the Telrad finder is so easy that even the youngest stargazer can
use it... Even special star charts have been designed to work with this ingenious piece of
equipment! Measuring 8x1.75-inches, the Telrad reflex finder requires
two AA batteries and supplies hours upon hours of service. Simply
switch it off between objects to conserve battery life - or leave it
on and share with others where you're aimed!

Telrad
I wish there was a higher rating. This finder is so superior to any other product. It makes a red dot obselete. You will not be disappointed. |

size matters
I have owned a Telrad for years, but decided to get a small red dot reflex finder for a new, small Maksutov. It was simply too small for my old eyes to use. The big screen of the Telrad is a dream compared to the tiny alternatives. |

Who doesn't love a Telrad?
The Telrad has been around a long time...way before the smaller red dot finders started making their appearances. Over the years, I have talked to hundreds of people who own a Telrad, and they love it.
Over 20 years ago, I used a telescope for the first time and it was fitted with a Telrad. In minutes, I learned how to use it and how to move the telescope around the sky (old Odyssey 13.1 Dob. The Telrad made star gazing so easy and so fun, that I can honestly say it is the reason I am still in astronomy today. No foolin'.
The only downside to a Telrad is it's size. There are some telescopes that just don't have the room, and if that is the case, there are some decent red dot finders out there, so I am not knocking them. But if you have an SCT, a Dob (it would be a sin to not have one on a Dob! or other reflector, or a larger refractor, the Telrad is perfect. |
