Pentax 125 SDP - 5" f/6.4 APO Refractor
The Pentax 125 SDP APO refractor is now available in the US from Oceanside Photo & Telescope! This portable, well made telescope is crafted to extremely high standards, and performs beautifully when used visually or as a high quality astrograph.
The 4-element, 2-group design of the Pentax 125 SDP was created to produce excellent image quality over the entire field of view. The front element in the first doublet is made of SD glass, and the front element in the second doublet (third element in the system) is crafted of ED glass. This configuration, along with the addition of state-of-the-art internal baffling, yields images of excellent contrast and detail, with great color correction, even at high magnifications. Special multi-coatings designed to increase the transmission of astronomical wave lengths are used on all Pentax APO telescopes, and the integrated corrector yields a flatness of field that is sure to please the most discerning imager!
When it comes to design features, the Pentax 105 SDP has what you're looking for. The drawtube has an inside diameter of 90mm, and fully illuminates 6 X 7 format with ease. The helical focuser includes a scale that allows precision focus to 0.01mm or better with a large knurled ring that fits the hand comfortably. With a Visual Limiting Magnitude of 12.2 and a Resolution Power of 0.93 seconds, this is one dandy little scope!

Pentax 125 Superb Astrograph
I have been imaging with scopes and ccd cameras for several years now, and have progressed through many scope and cam configurations, in my ongoing quest to improve on my image captures. I have used many Takahashi refractors and reflectors, with various brand ccd cameras, including Finger Lakes, Starlite express, and SBIG. I purchased a pentax 125 SDP from Eric and Craig, about a year ago, and have been thoroughly enjoying it ever since !
The fit and finish on the Pentax 125 SDP are top quality, and aestheticly pleasing. The tube is not heavy ( for a 5 refractor with 4 glass elements and the focuser is truely superb. This helicoid focuser is extremely fine in movement, has a very fine graduate scale to see exactly how much you move the focuser, and one full rotation moves the focuser about 1.75 mm NO PROBLEM obtaining fine focus on ccd chips, MANUALLY.
