Welcome to the OPT Observatory Contest! The basic idea of the contest is simple: Every two months OPT will produce an advertisement in the National Science Teachers Association Journal. The main image in the advertisement will be a major observatory from around the world. All you have to do is determine what observatory is shown in the image and enter this information on our website contest section. Not a reader of the NSTA Journal? Not a problem! The image of the observatory will also be shown in the contest section of our website.
There will be a total of six contests. As noted, every two months a new contest will be opened. You can enter the prior contests at any time up until the end of the contest.
At the end of the contest, OPT will pull all of the entrants with the correct observatory for each month and will randomly select one of them to win a prize. The prize for each individual contest will be the incredible Celestron SkyScout. OPT wishes to thank Celestron for their generous donation and sponsorship of this contest.
The Celestron SkyScout Personal Planetarium will automatically locate thousands of objects in the night sky using the latest technologies. Find out about the Celestron SkyScout here. There will be a total of six winners, one for each observatory contest.

Even more exciting than the individual contest prizes will be the grand prize! Every correct observatory answer you provide will be an entry into the grand prize drawing. So you will have a total of six possible entries into the grand prize drawing. So the more observatories you get correct, the better your chances are of winning the grand prize!
