Apogee CCD Cameras |
Since 1993, Apogee Instruments has been supplying cooled CCD cameras
to astronomers around the world. Apogee Alta E Series CCD Cameras, Apogee Alta U Series CCD Cameras and Apogee Ascent CCD Cameras are now used in more
than 50 countries, from world-class professional observatories to
backyard domes where "amateurs" add discovery after discovery every
day. Over the years, Apogee has kept track of every suggested
improvement that they could add to the cameras to bring their
technology to the next level. With the Alta Series, Apogee aimed at
the highest performance; with Ascent, they aimed for higher speeds and
more accessible pricing. Let's take a brief look at what makes each
unique...
Apogee Alta E Series CCD Cameras are the perfect
choice for serious amateurs and professionals with pricing starting at
around $5000. The Alta E2 is a medium format front-illuminated Kodak
Blue Plus sensor with high quantum efficiency. Low noise and small

Apogee Instruments company founder, Bruce Bugbee, began using small,
inexpensive
devices to measure environmental changes. His interest in the field
lead to the use
of photodiodes to measure different types of radiation in plant
canopies. In 1995, he began making light meters for use by colleagues
who found these meters to be highly useful and requests soon came from
Universities around the country. The prototype meter went through
several versions in the winter of 1995 to make it more durable and
accurate and in the Spring of 1996 Apogee Instruments, Inc. was born
with the introduction of the basic quantum meter. Their line of
pyranometers, net radiometers, spectroradiometers. UV sensors,
barometric pressure sensors, oxygen sensors, nanologgers, infrared
temperature sensors, and chlorophyll content meters give Apogee
Instruments a long line of science history. Apogee Instrument systems
have contributed to discoveries in many different fields, from
astronomy to life science. They are operated in a variety of extreme
conditions, from the Arctic to orbiting around the Earth. From bio
array readers and radiance measurement systems to backyard astronomy
and bright field microscopy imaging, Apogee Instruments has supplied
the tools for serious research and discovery work for over a decade.
